Happy Halloween!
What a wild and fun day we had. We started the day with a parade around the school where we got to show off our costumes for the parents and other students. We had some amazing costumes! Then we had rotations with the other first grades. After lunch we did Halloween math, journals, and sqeezed in some reading time before our party started! We had so much fun playing games, listening to a scary story, touching weird gooy things in cauldrons, and decorating cookies. Thanks to our great parents, it was a blast! It should be illegal to have that much fun in one day!

Our Author's Celebration
Wednesday we had our first Author's Celebration. Each of the children chose their best (or favorite) story that they wanted to share. Our audience included our first grade friends, parents, and little brothers and sisters. I was so proud of all the children and their wonderful stories. I was also proud of how each of the children were able to read their story into the microphone and show their books on the document camera. It can be a scary ordeal, but they did great!!! Way to go, kids!

My Birthday Video - Way too fun!
My cute first graders, with some help from some incredible moms put this video together and surprised me on my birthday! What a day to remember! Thank-you, thank-you, thank you!
Pocket Day!
Mathematics in Motion!
Yesterday we moved our desks around, got out drum sticks and got to move and groove to the music while we learned different beats and positions. This was our first lesson in drumming and we had a great time! We can't wait until next time when we'll learn to put our math knowledge to work and really start to move!!!
We pledge to be drug free!!!

Enemy Pie??? How about Friendship Pie!!!
After reading the story "Enemy Pie" we decided to make our own pie. We got the pudding and pie crust out but, unfortunately, earlier that morning I had given out all the goodies that we could have put inside it to make a great enemy pie: dirt, worms, frogs, dead fish, etc. The sweet children in our class started sacrificing their own treats to add to our class pie. With the great ingredients that everyone added we had a wonderful creation! We decided to call it our "Friendship" pie rather than enemy pie. The magic of the pie definately had an effect on us. We've been the most thoughtful friends ever since!
